Overall, I did actually enjoy reading this book and finished it in two days. The story line didn't move very quickly, and at the end of book I realized that there was more investigative detail and discussion than action taking place, but somehow the author managed to keep it interesting enough that I wasn't bored. I was a bit disappointed in the ending, despite a nice twist, simply because I found the stalker's motivations so thin that it didn't feel believable. Still, it kept my attention to the end of the book, and I will probably give the next book in the series a shot.The main reason I only gave it three stars was due to the dialogue and romantic development between the two main characters. I agree with another reader's review that the book seemed like it was written for young adults when it came to the romance . There was no development and build-up as the characters got to know each other and form an attraction. Within seconds of meeting each other, having never even had a conversation or knowing anything about the other person, they were instantly and inexplicably attracted to such a level that neither could hide it and were embarrassingly obvious in front of literally every other character in the book. It reminded me more of two teenagers in puppy-love than two alleged professionals that the author tries to make you believe are very disciplined and mature. The blunt conversations (both by the two love interests and also comments made by friends/family while right in front of them) made me cringe and really poured cold water on the romantic element.The other reason for a lower rating was how the author seemed to overdramatize some aspects of the plotline. The whole premise of the book is that the female protagonist has a stalker, which is a reasonable security risk, but the level of protection seemed more on par with a national diplomat being hunted by a team of militants than one mentally unstable stalker. I realize that created more drama for the book and showcase the specialized skills of the Nighthawk team, but it was just a little overdone. Also, one of the male protagonist's stated reasons for not being ready for a relationship was a medical condition that was blown significantly out of proportion and made him appear self-pitying and dramatic. As someone with lifelong illnesses myself, I can appreciate the very real obstacle that medical impairments can create for a relationship. However, since he was clearly still healthier and more active than any normal person would be, it felt like the author was trying to come up with something that felt "major" enough to constitute a challenge while actually being so minor that it could be easily resolved by the end of the book.
